Iceberg Ahead!

A few weeks ago I went to see the Titanic exhibit at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences with some of my gal pals.  It was a rainy/ dreary day so of course it was a great day to go to the museum!  Turns out, everyone had the same idea to go to the museum as we did.

Before we entered the exhibit we were given a boarding pass (which had the bio of an actual passenger on the Titanic)… here’s what my pass looked like:

It was truly an amazing exhibit filled with unusual artifacts and stories of passengers that were aboard the Titanic.  I highly recommend seeing this exhibit before it leaves Raleigh… you have until April 28th to get your tail to the museum and get some culture!

P.S. In case you were wondering, I survived!

A Modern Day St. Elmo’s Bar

I’m not going to lie most of my favorite movies were made in the 80’s…

You catch my drift.

So once Coglin’s opened in downtown Raleigh I knew I would be in heaven. Who doesn’t love 80’s/ 90’s music? Not to mention the walls are adorned with pictures from popular movies and TV shows.  It’s a nice change of pace if you’re tired of hearing all the current music being played at area bars. They play everything from Billy Idol to Whitney Houston to Guns N’ Roses and the list goes on.  I just wish the venue was a bit bigger. If you don’t want to have to wait in a long line to get into the bar I suggest you arrive before 10pm.

Since there’s no “Hot Tub Time Machine” to take you back into the 80’s, Coglin’s is the next best thing.

First Friday: March Edition

I LOVE First Friday. If you’ve never ventured out in downtown Raleigh to attend First Friday, you’re missing out. Every first Friday of the month, downtown Raleigh showcases art, jewelry, apparel and anything else you can think of.

This past Friday was epic.

My friends and I ventured to Chuck’s for dinner (it was my first time there and it was amaze-balls).  That was the first burger I’ve completely demolished. Seriously. The menu may look a little intimidating, but don’t worry they can make a burger however you’d like. I have a feeling I’ll be back there soon.

There were vendors lined up right outside of The Raleigh Times selling shirts, jewelry, koozies, art prints, and the list goes on. My best purchase of the week came from House of Swank Clothing where I picked up 2 awesomely clever koozies.

First Friday is a great opportunity to support local businesses, so y’all better mark your calendar for the next one on April 5th!

Triangle Restaurant Week is Back!

Triangle Restaurant Week is baaaack (it’s running until 1/27)!! Woohoo!! My head went into a tailspin when I checked out all the restaurants participating. Major noms!

What I love about Triangle Restaurant Week is that you can really get an experience out of the restaurant. Normally, when I dine out I usually stick to one entree and skip the salad and dessert. There are great deals for both lunch & dinner, which in my opinion is too good to pass up!

Tonight I’ll be venturing to Sullivan’s for what will be an amazing dinner for only $30! Where else can you get a salad, filet mignon, and a dessert for just $30 at a super nice restaurant?! Of course there are other items on the menu to choose from.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to Irregardless Cafe. That’s one of my favorite restaurants here in Raleigh and their menu for Triangle Restaurant Week looks heavenly.

If I could I would eat at all the restaurants that are participating, but then someone would have to send me to the Biggest Loser to lose all the weight I gained. 🙂 I suppose it’s a good thing I’m eating sensibly during the day so I won’t feel guilty later on. Be sure to hit up Triangle Restaurant Week before it ends and it’s a great opportunity to eat local!
